Drive was Bic Runga's first album. It rocketed her to super stardom in her native New Zealand. It immediately hit number one in the charts and went on to sell seven times platinum.
Drive was the highest-selling album by a New Zealand artists of all time. She later broke this record with her second album Beautiful Collision.
Drive received critical acclaim. It won six Tuis at the New Zealand Music Awards in 1998, including Album of the Year.
Bic Runga produced Drive and it was recorded in just three weeks in May 1997. Bic sung, played guitar, mellotron, xylophone and drums.
